Liverpool head coach after the hard-fought victory over Chelsea on Sunday.

The Dutchman's strong start to life in the Anfield hotseat continued at the weekend as his team over the weekend. The victory meant that the former Feyenoord boss has now won 10 out of his opening 11 games as successor.

His team took the lead during a cagey first half as after Curtis Jones was fouled. However, the visitors responded after the interval, with Nicolas Jackson bringing the scores level before with the winner.

  • Speaking in the Champions League, Reds boss Slot reflected on a gritty performance from his players. With his team sitting top of the Premier League at this early stage of the campaign, he said: "You can't ask for much more with results but there is always room for improvement.

"I don't think we outplayed Chelsea, we certainly didn't, I think they were more dominant than us with the ball," he admitted, as he gave a balanced response when it comes to the showing from Enzo Maresca's side. "In an ideal world, I would've seen us dominating the complete game.

Either way, the Liverpool head coach was pleased with the effort shown by his stars, as he vowed that his team will compete in every game this term. He said: "But the good thing is, if we face a team like Chelsea or , because we had difficult moments against United too, you see a team that is fighting for every moment that can be decisive in the game.

"I am hoping in the near future, we play a difficult game like against Milan or United, and we are more dominant than we were against Chelsea. But that says a lot about Chelsea too."

Slot also called out observers who have been critical of Chelsea's approach in terms of squad building since assumed the reins as chairman in 2022. Under the ownership of Clearlake Capital, $1.3 billion has been spent on 39 players with the Blues having finished 12th and 6th in the last two campaigns.

Giving his verdict on the West Londoners' transfer activity, the Liverpool boss said: "A lot of people made fun of Chelsea investing so much money and all the players that was not in the squad. But in my opinion they have done so well in the last couple of years, bringing really good players in, and now have such a strong squad and manager, they will be up there in the upcoming years."
