As the speed of monsoon is increasing, many states of the country are getting hit by floods. If we look at the present time, many states of Northeast India including Assam are in the grip of floods these days and many hectares of agriculture have been damaged. Flood water has reached people's homes, which has come as a big shock to the common people.
Not only Northeast India, but many states including UP, and Bihar also face the same situation during heavy rains. Many times, people's entire house gets destroyed in the floods. In such a situation, let us know that if the house, shop, or agriculture is damaged in flood or rain, then how do we get compensation for it, what is its rule?
The government assesses the damage.
When there is damage due to heavy rains or natural disasters in a state, the responsibility of assessing this damage lies with the local administration. When the damage is very extensive, the state government itself announces compensation. In such a situation, the local administration officials assess the damage and prepare a survey report and send it to the government, after which the government distributes the compensation amount.
How can you appeal
If your house, shop or agriculture has been damaged in rain or flood, then to compensate for it, you will first have to inform the district administration about it. For this, you can give written information about it to the concerned municipality or panchayat in your city or village. After this, the local officials assess the property and damage of your family. During this, photos and videos of the flood-affected area are made and handed over to the district administration, after which the district administration sends this report further to the state government. After this, a relief package is announced by the state government.
