India pace spearhead is all set to return to the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Mumbai Indians (MI) next week. Bumrah is reportedly in contention for the away fixture against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Sunday, April 13. The star fast bowler is out of action since sustaining a back injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) earlier this year.
The right-arm pacer, known for his death-over precision, has been undergoing rehabilitation following the injury he picked up during the Sydney Test against Australia in January. While his recovery has shown positive signs, sources said the right-arm bowler would go through two simulation matches to prove his match fitness before making a comeback. As a result, the 31-year-old is unlikely to feature in MI’s upcoming clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Monday, April 7.

With 165 wickets from 133 IPL matches at an impressive average of 22.52, Bumrah’s presence has always been a key asset for Mumbai Indians. The bowler’s return to competitive cricket is not only crucial for MI's campaign but also for Team India, who are scheduled to face England in a five-Test series after the IPL gets over.
, meanwhile, are currently having a forgettable start to their season. They have managed just one win in their first four matches and are sitting at the seventh position on the points table with only two points. Their loss to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 12 runs last night has only added to their woes.
The team has been struggling in the absence of the Indian bowler, who often provides the breakthroughs. The Ahmedabad-born cricketer’s return is expected to bring much-needed stability and experience to the bowling attack. Bumrah’s comeback is eagerly awaited by fans and management, as MI aim to turn around their fortunes and climb the points table.
