CSK's Struggles in IPL 2025: A challenging start to the season
The is not going well for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as they have just two wins in eight matches. They are known as one of the most dangerous teams in IPL history, but this year is something different for them. The Super Kings are having great difficulty finding the right combination in the batting lineup.
Key bowlers like Jadeja and Ashwin are not deliveringMeanwhile, star bowlers like Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin aren't getting wickets, which is a major issue for the team. Despite having MS Dhoni as their captain, CSK don't have the best opening pair that they used to have in the previous seasons. The strongest part of the Yellow Army's playing XI was their openers. With Ruturaj Gaikwad's shoulder injury, they are stuck with Rachin Ravindra, who hasn't shown his potential yet.
What if Gautam Gambhir joined CSK as head coach? At this point, if we assume that Gautam Gambhir was a part of their support staff as a head coach or their mentor, things would have been different for the Yellow Army. Gambhir has a great record in the IPL. As a player, he helped KKR win the title in 2012, and as a mentor in 2024. His leadership skills are beyond comparison as he led the Delhi Daredevils and the KKR in the IPL.
Gambhir’s leadership could have turned CSK’s season aroundAlso, Gambhir has vast experience as a coach in the IPL and is now the head of the Indian Cricket Team. He could have made his instincts work and built a stronger team with a better mindset and intent. This CSK team lacks intent, which is quite visible in their matches, especially from the batters. Gambhir's involvement would have solved this problem for the five-time IPL champions.
Improving skills and chasing targets: Gambhir's expertiseMoreover, the India team's head coach has worked with many players in the past. Hence, he could have helped the CSK players to improve their skills, especially in crunch situations. The Chennai-based franchise hasn't chased down a score of 180+ since 2019, which is a very disappointing record. Gambhir is a competitive person, which could have been a benefit for the Super Kings. Hence, having him around could have solved a lot of problems for CSK.
