Trent, BHEL among stocks India's largest mutual fund scheme bought and sold in March

HDFC Balanced Advantage Fund, India’s largest mutual fund scheme based on assets managed, added five new stocks in the portfolio in March, which include Trent, Varun Beverages, Alkem Laboratories, whereas it exited from 13 stocks in the same period, which include Bharat Heavy Electrical, ACC, Siemens, Havells India, UltraTech Cement, Zydus Lifesciences, and Samvardhana Motherson International.

Around 3.04 lakh shares of Trent were added to the portfolio in March, followed by 2 lakh shares of Colgate-Palmolive (India), and 89,122 shares of Varun Beverages were added to the portfolio in the same period.

The balanced advantage fund sold 16.48 lakh shares of Bharat Heavy Electricals from the portfolio, followed by 11.20 lakh shares of NMDC. The fund also made a complete exit from Samvardhana Motherson International by selling 8.37 lakh shares in March.


The fund also sold 18,000 shares of Havells India and 17,350 shares of UltraTech Cement from its portfolio.

The largest mutual fund scheme reduced its exposure in 30 stocks, which include Canara Bank, IRCTC, Titan Company, SBI, HDFC Bank, Piramal Enterprises, and Tata Power Company.

Around 66.75 lakh shares of Canara Bank were sold out from the portfolio, taking the total number of shares to 36.78 lakh in March against 1.03 crore in February. It also sold 18.83 lakh shares of HDFC Bank from its portfolio in March, followed by 15.92 lakh shares of Indus Towers.

The fund had 15,600 shares of Escorts Kubota by selling 7,500 shares in March, from 23,100 shares in February.

The exposure in 13 stocks was increased in the mentioned period, which includes HDFC Life Insurance Company, Torrent Power, Maruti Suzuki India, Bharti Airtel, United Spirits, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, HCL Technologies, IndusInd Bank, and Infosys.

It added around 35.08 lakh shares of IndusInd Bank, followed by 19.10 lakh shares of HDFC Life Insurance Company. The fund added 15,466 shares of Torrent Power and 1,763 shares of Divi’s Laboratories.

The exposure in 105 stocks remained the same, which includes Adani Energy Solutions, Bandhan Bank, ITC Hotels, Bajaj Finance, Cipla, SAIL, Hero MotoCorp, Kotak Mahindra Bank, ONGC, RIL, Grasim Industries, Tata Steel, Bharat Petroleum, and Ashok Leyland.

The fund had 154 shares in March against 162 shares in February. The fund had an AUM of Rs 94,824 crore as on March 31, 2025, against Rs 90,374 crore in February.
