Bhojpuri actor and singer Pawan Singh is currently making headlines after a video from a promotional event surfaced online, showing him allegedly touching co-star Anjali Raghav's waist without her consent. The incident occurred during the launch of their new song Saiya Seva Kare, and the clip quickly went viral. It led to sharp criticism from social media users and sparked a debate around consent and professionalism in the industry. Now, Anjali has broken her silence regarding the event.

In the video, Pawan can be seen placing his hand on Anjali's waist while on stage, allegedly claiming he was removing something stuck to her saree. Although Anjali offered a smile during the moment, her body language appeared tense and uncomfortable. Viewers were quick to point out the inappropriateness of his actions. Comments flooded social media platforms, with many users slamming the actor for violating personal space and normalising disrespectful behaviour.
Anjali Raghav issues statement amid controversy
However, Anjali initially stayed silent, which led to further online speculation and even trolling. Some questioned why she didn’t respond on stage or push him away. Two days later, on Saturday (August 30), Anjali addressed the issue in a video message, where she explained her side of the story and condemned what had happened.
She clarified that her reaction during the incident was due to confusion. Since her saree was new, she assumed a tag or thread might have been showing when Pawan pointed it out. Wanting to avoid creating a scene in public, she chose to smile and continue speaking to the audience. However, she later learned from a team member that nothing was stuck on her saree, which left her feeling deeply hurt and angry. She admitted to crying over the incident afterward and said she had initially planned to confront Pawan privately backstage, but he had already left the venue after filming social media content.
Anjali also revealed that she was advised not to speak out publicly due to Pawan Singh's strong PR influence, with warnings that the narrative could be twisted against her. Initially hoping the issue would fade on its own, she chose silence, but the controversy continued to grow.
In a strong and emotional statement, Anjali said that touching someone without permission is never acceptable, especially in public, and described Pawan’s behaviour as beyond wrong. She expressed frustration over the lack of support and understanding, stating that if the same situation had occurred in her home state of Haryana, the public would not have tolerated it.
As a result of the incident and the larger issues she’s faced in the industry, Anjali announced that she would no longer work in Bhojpuri cinema. She said she is content with her family and career in Haryana and has no intention of returning to an environment where she feels unsafe or disrespected.
