New Delhi: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge slammed the intelligence agencies and blamed the government over the Delhi car bomb blast on Monday that left at least 13 people dead.
The leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha also demanded a thorough investigation into the incident and said whoever is guilty must be punished, even as he called for a detailed discussion on the matter during the upcoming winter session of Parliament.
"No leniency should be shown to anyone involved. Whoever is guilty must be punished. People should fear committing such acts. Fear must come through strict punishment," Kharge told media persons on Wednesday. "It is unfortunate that such incidents are happening in the national capital. You have intelligence agencies, the IB, the CBI and many other agencies right there. Even with all these agencies, the government has failed. We will speak further once the full investigation report is available. Parliament (session) will begin on December 1 and let's see and discuss it."
The Congress president also dismissed various exit polls predicting victory for the ruling NDA in Bihar, pointing out that such predictions had proved wrong in the past, including in the Haryana election last year. "Let's wait and watch what happens when the actual results come," he said.
