A man has claimed that doctors at Kota Medical College in Rajasthan mistakenly performed surgery on his paralysed father instead of him after an accident. Manish, the actual patient, was admitted to the hospital with injuries from the accident and was set to undergo surgery on Saturday. He had called his paralysed father to accompany him for support.
Manish stated that he had been admitted and prepared for surgery, while his father waited outside the operation theatre. However, what happened next left him shocked.
“I was injured in an accident and had no one else to assist me, so I asked my paralysed father to come with me,” Manish explained. “My surgery was set for Saturday, so I told him to wait outside the operation theatre. "I was inside the OT and have no idea what happened, but now my father has 5–6 stitches on his body,” he added.
The patient also mentioned that he couldn't recall the name of the doctor who carried out the surgery. "I don’t remember who operated on me. I’m in this condition myself—what can I possibly do?" he said, expressing helplessness.
Meanwhile, Dr. Sangeeta Saxena, principal of Kota Medical College Hospital, instructed the superintendent to set up a committee to investigate the incident.
"I’ve asked the superintendent to constitute a committee and provide a report within 2–3 days. A three-member committee has been formed… They will look into the matter and report back with their findings," Saxena stated.
