Send Push
You can never go wrong with red on Karwa Chauth . But if you don’t want to wear a sari and still look dressed up, the red and golden suit that Kareena Kapoor Khan wore for Ganesh Utsav is perfect,” says Sneha Singh, a resident of Anand Niketan. Many like Sneha are choosing the outfit because of its colour and the embroidery work. Ladies choosing the suit say the outfit is comfortable and Karwa Chauth-approved.

‘It’s my first Karwa Chauth and I wanted to wear something that wasn’t too heavy’
Himani Agarwal, a resident of Lajpat Nagar, got a similar outfit made because she wanted to wear something that was easy to carry. “I am not very comfortable in saris and you cannot keep thinking about your outfit if you are stepping out for puja on that day. But this is my first Karwa Chauth so I also didn’t want to choose a colour that wouldn’t look festive. I have also asked my MUA to do my makeup accordingly. Since I am keeping the outfit a bit subtle, I’ll go bold with my eyes,” she tells us.

Celebrities outfits and Bollywood films are always used as inspiraion for festive OOTDs, and this year, it’s Kareena’s look that’s trending. Joban Sawhney from a boutique in Sukhdev Vihar tells us, “We have got many requests for this suit since September. Women have come with photos of the suit and have asked us to make something similar or exactly like that. The colour red is a favourite on this day and the way Kareena wore it with heavy earrings, it seems like a perfect look for most women.”
Neetu Singh from a boutique in Green Park adds, “We got a lot of requests for this outfit, and from young brides mostly. They told us how they would want to wear the colour without going over the top. Some people requested less embroidery work and got the outfit customised. They have an idea about the overall look they want and then they ask us to make small changes so that it fits according to their choice.”

Designer Meenu Sagar says, “Women who don’t wish to wear sari for Karwa Chauth are going for this outfit. You don’t have to wear a lot of jewellery if you pair the outfit with gajra and gold makeup.”
