Sawan Me Kya Nahi Khana Chahiye: The holy month of Sawan starts from 11th July 2025, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. During this, devotees observe fast, worship, and follow a regular diet. This time, the first Monday of Sawan will fall on 14th July, which is considered especially worshipful. In this holy month, some special precautions are also taken regarding food.

Consumption of cold nature substances like curd, kadhi, and raita is considered forbidden in Sawan. According to religious belief, these things increase tamasika in the body, due to which the purity of worship and fasting can be disturbed. At the same time, the scientific reason is that the season of Sawan is full of moisture and bacteria, due to which the consumption of these food items can cause stomach-related diseases, infection, and indigestion. For this reason, avoiding these things in Sawan is beneficial from a health and spiritual point of view.
Religious reason for not eating Kadhi in Sawan
According to religious belief, it is not considered appropriate to consume things made from milk and curd in the month of Sawan. Especially, it is advised to avoid things like curd, kadhi, and raita. One reason for this is that raw milk is offered to Lord Shiva in Sawan, so drinking it during this time is considered forbidden. According to Ayurveda, heavy and cold substances like milk and curd in this season can invite diseases in the body. Due to humidity and changing weather, these can cause digestive problems. Therefore, to maintain freshness and health in Sawan, it is better to avoid the consumption of these things.

Scientific reason for not eating Kadhi in Sawan
There are scientific reasons behind avoiding foods like curd and kadhi in the month of Sawan. In this season, there is excessive humidity in the atmosphere and the temperature remains relatively cool, due to which the digestive system slows down. The acidic elements present in curd can prove to be heavy for the body at this time and can cause gas, acidity or other digestive problems. Apart from this, the grass consumed by animals for grazing during the rainy season may contain insects, which affects the purity of milk. In such a situation, this milk can be harmful for the body. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid eating things like curry, curd and raita during Sawan, so that digestion remains good and there is no adverse effect on health.
