Devshayani Ekadashi, also known as Ashadi Ekadashi, Hari Shayani Ekadashi, or Padma Ekadashi, is an important festival in the Hindu calendar that marks the onset of the holy period called Chaturmas-the four months when Lord Vishnu is believed to enter a state of divine slumber (Yog Nidra). This sacred observance takes place during Ashadha Shukla Paksha Ekadashi, usually falling in June or July, right after the renowned Jagannath Rath Yatra.
🚩#AshadhiEkadashi also coincides with the last day of the World famous Rath Yatra of Puri -Bahuda Yatra in Odisha.

Why is Aashadi Ekadashi Celebrated?
On Aashadi Ekadashi, it is believed that Lord Vishnu falls asleep on the cosmic serpent Sheshnag in the Ksheer Sagar (Ocean of Milk). He remains in this state for four months until Prabodhini Ekadashi, when he awakens. During this period, known as Chaturmas, many auspicious ceremonies like marriages are put on hold, and devotees focus on penance, prayers, and charity.
It is also said that during Vishnu’s slumber, he entrusts the responsibility of cosmic order and care of the world to Lord Shiva. Observing this fast with devotion is believed to absolve one of sins and bring peace and prosperity.
Happy Aashadi Ekadashi to all

Altar Preparation: Install an idol or image of Lord Vishnu/ Lord Vitthal in your prayer area.
Lighting the Lamp: Light a ghee diya in front of the deity, symbolising divine illumination.
