Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Emotionally distressed at being separated from her mother, a 14-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself as her mother fled with their neighbour two months ago and never returned.

The incident occurred under Sanyogitaganj police station limits on Thursday. The girl was tense and deeply saddened by her mother’s elopement, leading her to take the drastic step. However, no suicide note was found from her place to ascertain the exact circumstances.

According to the police, the deceased was identified as Poorvi (14), daughter of Suresh Khande, a resident of Shyamcharan Shukla Nagar. The family members said that Poorvi was a student of class 8th and had got a supplementary.

Poorvi had been visibly troubled and under stress after the incident. On Thursday night, she went to her room upstairs and hanged herself. When her elder sister went to call her for dinner, she found Poorvi hanging.

The family members alleged that the person with whom her mother eloped lived opposite their house and used to harass them. He frequently abused them and threatened to kill them. Just 15 days ago, Poorvi’s family had filed a complaint against him at the police station. He was caught by the police but later released. Poorvi and her family were deeply troubled by him. The police began a probe into the case and conducted the post-mortem of the deceased.
