Mumbai: A shocking incident of gunfire took place in Mumbai’s Chembur area on Wednesday night, leaving a 50-year-old builder critically injured. The victim, identified as Sadruddin Khan, a resident of Parsik Hill, Belapur in Navi Mumbai, was targeted by two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle who opened fire on him near the Sion-Panvel Highway around 9:50 PM.
According to Zone 6 DCP Navnath Dhavale, the firing occurred near the Diamond Garden signal while Khan was travelling towards Panvel via the Sion-Panvel Highway. Two men on a bike approached him and opened fire before fleeing the scene.
Khan sustained multiple bullet injuries and was rushed to Zen Hospital, where he is currently admitted. His condition is reported to be stable.
Chembur Police have registered a case and are scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify and trace the suspects. The motive behind the attack is yet to be determined. Further investigation is underway.
Police sources said the assailants fired four to five rounds at Khan before escaping. A manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits.
