Mumbai News: Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan, CM Devendra Fadnavis Among Others, Pay Tributes To Dr Babasaheb At Chaityabhoomi On Ambedkar Jayanti

Mumbai: Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday paid floral tributes to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar at Chaityabhoomi in Mumbai on his 134th birth anniversary.

Deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, legislative council chairperson Ram Shinde, state cabinet ministers Ashish Shelar and Sanjay Shirsat also paid homage to Ambedkar at Chaityabhoomi, the final resting place of the Constitution's chief architect, located at Shivaji Park in central Mumbai.

The dignitaries also visited an exhibition of rare pictures of Ambedkar's life and times organised there by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Earlier, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis in a recent X post said, "Millions of salutes to Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the great man who created the best constitution in the world and lit the lamp of justice and equality, on his birth anniversary!" in remembrance of Dr. BR Ambedkar on his birth anniversary.

NCP (SP) working president Supriya Sule, who paid tributes at Chaityabhoomi earlier in the day, told reporters that Ambedkar laid the foundation stone of how a country's administration should be run.

"I come here every year to seek blessings, and all of us — the people of Maharashtra and the country — are moving forward guided by the thoughts of Bharat Ratna Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar. The way he and others have made immense contributions to this nation is truly remarkable...It is because of that Constitution that today we are living in a strong and vibrant democracy" she stated according to report by IANS.

Dr Ambedkar Jayanti Celebrations in Mumbai

Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, celebrated on April 14 on the birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar in Mumbai through various events. Many visit Chaityabhoomi in Dadar, Ambedkar's resting place, to pay respects and join processions and community gatherings.

Local Buddha Viharas host special events, encouraging participation from community groups. The visit to Chaitya Bhoomi is central to the celebration, attracting people from across the city to commemorate Ambedkar’s legacy and contributions. Processions to significant locations are also a prominent feature.
