Operation Sindoor Debate: Opposition Stages Walkout Over PM Modi's Absence In Rajya Sabha (Video)

The Opposition members staged a walkout from Rajya Sabha after their demand for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's reply in the House on Operation Sindoor on Wednesday.

After Union Home Minister Amit Shah rose to give the concluding speech in the debate, in the absence of PM Modi, the Opposition MPs created an uproar and demanded a reply from PM Modi.

LoP, Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge says," There was a demand from the Opposition that the PM should come to the House and give a reply. If the PM doesn't come to the House despite being present in Parliament premises, then it is an insult to the House."

On this, Amit Shah took a swipe at the Opposition and said, "Deal with me first—the PM would be tougher."

Calling PM Modi's absence a "disrespect to the house," Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, stated, "Some of the issues raised by the members of Rajya Sabha during the 'Operation Sindoor' debate have to be answered by PM Modi only. By absenting himself, PM Modi has disrespected the parliament."

After Opposition MPs walked out of the house amid Amit Shah's speech, he said that the Opposition's demand and stand were inappropriate, as it was decided in the Business Advisory Committee that the Opposition can discuss as much as it wants, but who will reply will be decided by the government and by the Prime Minister.

During his speech, Shah launched a scathing attack on the Congress party and alleged that national security was never Congress's priority.

"Yesterday, you (Congress) were asking why they (Pahalgam terrorists) were killed on this day? Why should they not have been killed yesterday? Because Rahul Gandhi was supposed to deliver his speech? It doesn't work like this. The entire country is seeing that Congress's priority is not national security and ending terrorism, but it is politics, their vote bank, and appeasement politics," he said.
