A 38-year-old woman was found dead, hanging from a tree outside a housing society in Thane on Sunday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Parvati Tekraj Sharma, 38, who originally hailed from Nepal and had recently moved to Thane 20 days ago. Her husband works as a watchman in a nearby building. The incident took place near Golden House Society, located at Almeda Signal in Thane.
The police said they received information from locals about the incident and rushed to the spot. The regional disaster management cell officials of the Thane Municipal Corporation were notified and dispatched one emergency vehicle, one rescue vehicle, and one ambulance. They retrieved the body and sent it to the civil hospital in Thane for post-mortem.
Police officials from the Naupada police station said that after reviewing CCTV footage from a nearby society, it was learned that she had left home and jumped over the compound wall of the building. She was found hanging at a height of six feet from the ground.
An Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been filed with the Naupada police station, and further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
