A shocking video of a leopard suddenly emerging from a wheat field and attacking people has gone viral on social media. The footage shows a group of people standing near a jeep when the leopard leaps at them, creating panic and chaos.

As people ran for safety, one man struck the leopard with a sharp object, possibly an axe, injuring the animal. Reports suggest that the video is from a rescue operation, though this claim remains unverified.

Taking cognisance of the viral video, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Social Forestry, Bharat Kumar, has ordered an investigation. Authorities aim to identify those involved in the incident, with speculation that some may be associated with the Forest Department.

DFO Bharat Kumar stated, "We have seen the video and will investigate to identify the individuals responsible for attacking the leopard. Necessary action will be taken accordingly."

According to reports, the forest officials arrived without any safety equipment when the leopard attacked them.

Following the attack by the leopard, one of the forest personnel struck the animal with an axe, inflicting serious injuries, as per reports.

The leopard succumbed to its injuries.

In separate news, a two-year-old female leopard was killed after being hit by a speeding heavy vehicle in the Mala range of the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve last week.

A search has been launched for the driver of the vehicle, and strict action will be taken against him under the Wildlife Protection Act.
