Carol Kirkwood may be famous for fronting the BBC's weather reports, but the experienced meteorologist has revealed she has another job that she wished she had. However, the TV star fears the sands of time are against her - and that she has missed any opportunity to fulfil her dream.
Carol, 63, has worked for the BBC for decades - joining the company soon after she graduated from university. She has worked on BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 4 and has informed the nation of the weather forecast on TV since the 1990s.
But while the seasoned professional has many years under her belt as a reliable source of information for audiences of all ages, she admits children's entertainment was the focus of her career. But it's not just any old Kids TV she wishes she'd had the chance to host - but arguable one of the ultimate ones.

For almost 70 years, Blue Peter has been a crown jewel in the BBC's crown of entertainment offerings for young audiences seeking knowledge as well as entertainment. And it is here that Carol wishes she had built a career.
The show launched the careers of John Noakes, Yvette Fielding, Janet Ellis and Konnie Huq - and Carol had her eyes on a slot on the line-up for decades. She revealed her ambition while appearing on ITV's James Martin’s Saturday Morning.
She told the host: “I worked as a secretary at the BBC for a while, as a production secretary ironically on BBC Breakfast, and then I left.
“But I’d still got lots of friends there and one of my friends said, ‘What do you want to do?’ and I said ‘I’d love to be a Blue Peter presenter, but of course I’m too old, I’m never going to do it’.”
While James brushed off her fear of being too old, declaring: “Don’t be so daft!” - Carol insisted: ”Well, certainly not now.”

Many took to social media to try to reassure Carol that it's never too late to chase a dream. One X user wrote: "Petition for #BluePeter to let Carol Kirkwood present an episode to fulfil her dream!!"
Last month, Carol surprised fans when she cast her mind back to past careers while engaging in conversation on BBC Breakfast.
Host Jon Kay asked her: "Carol, we're talking this morning about summer holiday jobs. Did you have a job when you were a teenager? What did you used to do to earn a bit of cash?"
She replied: "Yes, I did," she replied. "I worked as a housemaid, as a waitress, as a receptionist, all these things!" Amazed by Carol's varied work experience, Jon exclaimed, "You did everything!"
But Carol wasn't finished, adding yet another role to her impressive list: "Plus, a postwoman as well! In Edinburgh."
This disclosure caught Jon completely off guard, prompting him to ask: "A post woman? ! You didn't used to predict the weather for your neighbours? That kind of thing?".
She then revealed: "No, but you know, you used to go in the mornings, you'd smell toast, bacon, sausages. Ooh, it'd make you hungry!"
