UP News: The FSDA department has conducted a raid against the fake drug racket in UP and seized medicines worth more than Rs 30 crore. CM Yogi asked to crack down on those making fake medicines.
The Uttar Pradesh government has taken the biggest action so far against the racket of fake medicines. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) department has conducted raids across the state and seized fake medicines worth Rs 30 crore 77 lakh. During the action, 68 people were arrested, while the licenses of 1166 drug dealers have been canceled. Apart from this, the licenses of 6 drug manufacturing companies and 5 blood banks have also been canceled.
According to the information, 1039 raids were conducted across the state in the year 2024-25. In these raids, samples of 13,848 medicines were taken for testing, out of which 96 samples were found to be completely fake and 497 were found to be substandard (low quality). This action was spread across many districts of the state, but the maximum business of fake medicines was caught in Lucknow, Agra and Ghaziabad.
Oxytocin injections recovered in STF raid
Oxytocin injections and other fake medicines were recovered with the help of STF in Lucknow. Fake medicines worth Rs 1.36 crore were caught in Agra on 5 November 2024, while a consignment of narcotics drugs worth 0.9 crore was seized in Ghaziabad on 6 February 2025. Fake cosmetic products were also found in large quantities in Bareilly. Apart from this, the department is also alert in the case of allopathic medicines being sold under the guise of Ayurvedic medicines and investigation of 14 suspicious samples is going on.
The government says that this entire campaign aims to ensure the quality of medicines being provided to the public. Fake medicines not only do not cure the disease, but can also prove to be fatal. The central government is also keeping an eye on fake medicines across the country. In the last few years, the fake medicine industry has emerged as a serious problem in the country, which endangers the lives of patients.
No place for those selling fake medicines - CM Yogi
CM Yogi Adityanath has made it clear that there is no place for those selling fake medicines in Uttar Pradesh. This campaign of the state government will not only protect public health but is also a big blow to the drug mafia. The government has announced to intensify such actions in the future as well. This action has become an example for the entire country.
