India is a land of opportunities.
On his visit to Trinidad and Tobago, Prime Minister Modi also underlined the changed scenario of India. He said, Today's India is a land of opportunities. Recalling the will to live and struggles of the ancestors, PM Modi emphasized that the sufferings that the ancestors of the migrants faced, such as torture, could break even the people with the strongest self-confidence.
They left their soil, but not their salt...
Addressing the Indian community, PM Modi said, 'I have come to this beautiful land of humming birds some time ago. My first interaction is with the Indian community here. It feels completely natural because we are part of a family... The journey of the Indian community in Trinidad and Tobago is full of courage. The circumstances your ancestors faced would have broken even the strongest of souls. But they faced hardships with hope. They faced problems head-on. They left behind the Ganga and Yamuna, but carried the Ramayana in their hearts. They left their soil, but not their salt. They were not just migrants; they were messengers of an eternal civilisation. Their contribution has benefited this country culturally, economically, and spiritually.
Curiosity in the bright eyes of the younger generation
PM Modi also recalled his two-decade-old visit. He said, 'It has been 25 years since I last came... Our friendship has grown even stronger. Banaras, Patna, Kolkata, and Delhi may be cities of India, but the streets here have names too. Navratri, Mahashivratri, and Janmashtami are celebrated here with joy, gaiety, and pride. Chowtal and Bhitak Gan flourish here. I can see the warmth of many familiar faces here. I can see the curiosity in the bright eyes of the younger generation, who are eager to know each other and move forward together. Our relations extend far beyond geography and generations.
