Bhubaneswar: People in some parts of Odisha capital and neighbouring areas reported hearing loud, booming sounds and feeling tremors on Sunday morning.

Though National Center for Seismology (NCS) has shared no update on any seismic activity in Bhubaneswar, several residents panicked after hearing the sounds.

“I was sleeping when I heard a noise and then it felt like as if the house has tilted,” said a local resident.

Another resident said that his cycle fell down when he was out for a morning walk. And similar experience was shared by another. “I was out for a morning walk between 7.10 and 7.20 am when first I heard a sound and experienced some dizziness. Later after speaking with other, we deduced that it would be due a mild earthquake,” said another local resident.

Notably, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6 struck parts of Jharkhand on Saturday morning with its epicenter in Khunti district, approximately 35 km from Ranchi.
