viewers were left fuming after a couple on the hit show pulled what many called a 'cheeky stunt' with their outrageously 'lowball' offer.
In the latest episode, host Ben Hillman was assisting golf enthusiasts John and Adele in their hunt for the perfect holiday home.
Their search unfolded in the sunny climes of Murcia, Spain and they had £100,000 to spend looking for at least two bedrooms and a property that boasted a bathtub or had enough room to install one.
The lovebirds, who have been together for over a decade, stressed the need for a mountain view, sufficient kitchen space, and proximity to a golf course due to their sporting hobby.
Ben lined up five possible homes, factoring in their requirements. One property, situated in a coveted golf resort with an expansive wrap-around terrace, caught the couple's eye despite its snug kitchen, reports .
Acknowledging the compromise, Ben remarked: "I had hoped to give you that fantastic, all singing, all dancing kitchen but I don't think I've quite delivered on that front, but I have given you a light-filled kitchen that has the potential to be expanded into the utility space."
Despite this minor setback, the dwelling tickled their fancy, and even more so as it was priced under budget at £92,000. Captivated by its charm, John and Adele were quick to make their move with an offer.
The couple, cheekily eyeing the already reasonably priced property, decided to put forward an audacious bid of £80,000. Ben, the presenter of the show, was left utterly speechless, having to point out that their offer was 'too low' amid high demand and substantial interest from other prospective buyers.
Their ambitious punt was swiftly rejected, but after a tactical discussion with the estate agent, they struck a deal at an agreeable £85,840.
Back home, viewers were undoubtedly flabbergasted by the negotiation theatrics on A Place in the Sun, immediately flooding social media with their opinions. Reactions ranged from incredulity to outrage.
One viewer responded: "A cheeky offer. Shock ..... #aplaceinthesun." Another wrote acidly: "80k...the answer starts in F and ends in off #aplaceinthesun." (sic)
One more exasperatedly vented: "80k?! There is lowballing And then there is downright p***takery #aplaceinthesun." (sic)
While yet another netizen questioned: "Is Adele taking the p***?? £80k." (sic)
A Place in the Sun airs weekdays from 4pm on Channel 4.
