Coronation Street fans were left devastated tonight as Carla Connor and Lisa Swain appeared to call it quits on the ITV soap - at least for now. At a riotous Halloween party at the Rovers Return, Becky Swain cornered her ex-wife Lisa in the toilets and planted a kiss on her lips, leaving her speechless. Harkening back to their first dance at their wedding, Becky seemed determined to reignite an old flame.
Carla, meanwhile, was already worried that she wouldn't be enough to compete with the history between the two women, and shared her fears with Lisa. But before long, her tearful fiancée admitted to the snog, leaving Carla blindsided as she struggled to form a response.
In the end, she gave Lisa a hug and a kiss, but told her: "I need to clear my head," and left their shared home - and a devastated Lisa crying on her own.
Carla instead headed to Roy's Rolls to tell him what had happened, admitting: "It was hard enough competing with her when she was dead, let alone now she's flesh and blood!"
Lisa swore the kiss wasn't reciprocal, and Carla worried it is "only a matter of time before they're back together" - leaving fans worried it could be the end of the road for the couple.
But she reassured Roy: "Did I say I was giving up? She wants a fight, she's come to the right place!"
Worried fans took to X to share their thoughts on the episode, with one gushing: "I just want to take all their pain away and make it better for them!"
Somebody else said: "Seeing Carla like this is extremely heartbreaking. Neither she nor Lisa deserve the constant manipulation and gaslighting from [Becky], so much so that even Betsy sided with her."
"Lisa's little panicked face when she thought Carla was walking out on her! They love each other so much. #Swarla are the definition of true love," someone else posted.
