Dave Chisnall has hit back at a darts fan online who suggested he was 'drunk' when taking to the oche at the Players Championship earlier this week.

The world No. 10 has found himself struggling for form in recent weeks, winning two of his last seven matches. After being beaten by Ryan Meikle on Tuesday, Chisnall failed to bounce back against Michael Mansell and suffered a 6-5 defeat.

Following the defeat, the 44-year-old faced criticism on social media for some of his underwhelming scores during those defeats, and he could not resist biting back at one remark.

X user DCDritsch90 slammed Chisnall for his performance, writing: "I can shoot better darts than Dave Chisnall in his current form and I've never played a day in my life. Imagine being a pro dart player and throwing a total score between 20 and 50 multiple times in a single match. Is he drunk?"

Chisnall then responded by mocking the user's turn of phrasing, replying: "Gonna start shooting darts instead of chucking them and see if I end up doing any better."

Chizzy has spoken openly about how he is currently at the heart of experimenting with his game in the hope of finding some minor adjustments which can help him improve his overall game.

Speaking last month, he said: "It's hard to explain, but the first dart is going too high, and I have to switch. I've tried messing around with my throw, but it doesn't work. The weird thing is, I end up seeing the bottom of my flight when I hold the dart. It catches the corner of my eye and I end up losing concentration."

"Only I know how to throw my darts and I will just have to work on and find a way of fixing. I do think my game is in good nick, especially when the first dart goes into Treble 20, it's just getting that more regular and hitting doubles more often when it matters"

After missing out on a spot in the Premier League following a spree of underwhelming performances in televised matches, Chisnall will need to find his rhythm sooner rather than later to avoid slipping down the rankings and potentially throwing away opportunities further down the line.
