After snatching pole position in qualifying with some help from George Russell following his crash into the barriers, Norris would have been hoping to reduce Verstappen's 54-point advantage in the Drivers' Championship title race. Charles Leclerc took full advantage of their squabble to win the race as Ferrari completed an impressive 1-2 finish. However, things took a sour turn between Norris and Verstappen when the pair both went off the track while the Briton launched his overtake. The FIA penalised the McLaren star, demoting him from third to fourth, while Verstappen celebrated extending his lead on the podium.
