Simon Gregson has received an outpouring of support from fans and fellow cast members after revealing he is battling health issues. The actor, who plays on the popular ITV , took to Instagram on Monday, November 4 to share details about his challenging weekend.

Gregson had been participating in Sotheby's London to veteran car run but encountered difficulties when the vehicle he was travelling in broke down. Despite this setback, he remained determined to reach Brighton, switching to another car to continue his journey.

In a subsequent update, the 50 year old shared a video in which he revealed: "Car didn't make it, which is fortuitous because neither have I, I am full of man flu. I thought I could make it, I couldn't so I'm tucked up in a very nice hotel where I am going to sleep and hopefully be alright."

He also expressed gratitude to the British Motorist Museum for lending him the car and voiced his hope to participate again next year. Among those wishing him well was his on-screen daughter, Elle Mulvaney, who plays Amy Barlow.

She commented: "Feel better soon" alongside a love heart emoji. Fans also sent their well wishes, with one writing "get well soon there Simon" and another adding "hope you feel better soon, get some rest.", reports

Fans of the Coronation Street star expressed their well wishes, with comments such as "Aw get well soon - my husbands just beaten the evilness of man flu but he didn't moan about it once....not once...ahem" and "Awww feel better soon Si take care and rest up."

The actor, who has been playing Steve McDonald since 1989, has been at the heart of the soap's drama this year after his on-screen partner, Tracy Barlow, left him. It was hinted that Steve could be involved in a new romance with Cassandra Plummer, portrayed by Claire Sweeney.

Off-screen, Simon is happily married to Emma Gleave, with whom he shares three children. Emma, a former Hollyoaks actress, now runs The Tea Room in Cheshire. Last month, Simon proudly announced on social media that Emma's cafe had won an award, sharing a photo of his wife with the caption: "So so super proud of my baby girl 5star hygiene rating and the good food award two years running all the hard work every day 7 days a week she truly deserves it."
