"It's the ultimate gender reveal party," the newsreader laughed. But fans weren't so amused as they flocked to social media to criticise GMB for featuring the report in the show.
"Oh ffs," wrote one viewer followed by an angry face emoji.
Another furious fan added: " Wow. There are talks about blocking out our sun and our country is falling apart at a rapid rate, and you're talking about a fictional cartoon pig. This show makes no sense at all."
A third echoed: "Ffs is this what we have stooped to!" as another posted: "Any news on sun dimming..... no one cares about peppa pig."
A fifth shared: "April fools day was 24 days ago, come on get with it."
Mummy Pig broke the internet when she revealed live on Good Morning Britain that was expecting her third piglet. Showbiz correspondent Richard Arnold shared the exclusive news with viewers as Mummy Pig showed off her ultrasound and baby bump.
Despite her excitement, Mummy Pig admitted feeling "thrilled" yet "a little overwhelmed" by the prospect of juggling three kids under five.
Wrapping up the interview, Richard concluded: "Aw congratulations once again from all of us at Good Morning Britain, we're so excited to meet the new little baby pig and see how Peppa and George get along."
One of the most popular animated series, Peppa Pig was first broadcast in 2004 and is now shown in 180 territories and translated into 40 different languages.
