A major high street brand is in "retail expansion mode" as it hunts for new locations across the UK. Quiz announced it will look for five to 10 new stores over the next 12 months, with a focus on London and the south, just months after it fell into administration.
After having to close 23 stores earlier this year, it will now expand using a "more aspirational store concept", based on the blueprint of its relocated shop in Braehead shopping centre, Glasgow, unveiled in September. The firm said it was "seeking a focused number of new sites to showcase the brand's extended product offering", with a focus on London and the south.
The Glasgow-based company said: "Following Quiz Clothing's wide-reaching operational streamlining strategy introduced in February 2025, the Scotland-based fashion group is in retail expansion mode," reports Herald Scotland.
In February the brand called in administrators due to "challenging trading conditions impacting the Group's performance", said Sheraz Ramzan, CEO of Quiz, speaking to Sky News.
Orion Retail purchased the chain in a pre-pack insolvency deal, which saved 42 shops and was understood to have secured over 1,000 jobs. However, 23 shops were closed.
Mr Ramzan said: "We have evolved our retail formula at Quiz and, encouraged by a strong uplift in LFL (like-for-like) retail sales over the summer, we are confident the new strategy is working.
"The plan is to now expand in the right locations through units that provide the best possible backdrop for our extended product offering. This will be underpinned by an improved capex and return model with more flexible lease terms."
The new Braehead store is their blueprint, spanning 1,800 square feet, which the firm said "revealed a more sophisticated Quiz shopping experience", and a "softer design concept".
This included new white and gold fittings and in-store screens for video-led campaign content.
It said customer reaction was "very positive" to changes, including extended product ranges, contemporary tailoring and extended sizing options, which it said helped drive a 20% uplift in sales across the business in September.
