Meghan Markle's return to acting in a shocking new film role is yet another "reinvention" of the Duchess of Sussex, a royal commentator has claimed. The Duchess of Sussex, who previously starred in the US TV show, Suits, is returning to acting for the first time in seven years.
She'll make a cameo in the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios-produced film, Close Personal Friends, which stars actors Lily Collins and Henry Golding. YouTube star, Leilani of Barbados, told Express.co.uk: "I think she's been practising acting for the five years or so as she's been cosplaying business women, philanthropists, trad wives or whatever is trending at the moment."
Leilani, who has 120K on her platform, added: "Meghan has never been known as a big screen actress. She's a cable TV actress. This is not a comeback into acting by any means, but instead her millionth reinvention."
Leilani has grown her successful YouTube channel by critically analysing Meghan's business ventures and global appearances with smart comedic timing.
As reported by Variety Magazine, the Duchess of Sussex will make a cameo as herself instead of a character. A studio source told the Sun: "This is a massive moment for Meghan and signifies a return to doing what she truly loves. She has been swamped with offers but this one felt right.
"It is Meghan's way of gently putting her toe back in the water and seeing how she enjoys being back on set. Everyone involved is super-excited, and have been sworn to secrecy about her involvement."
Commenting on Meghan's playing herself in the film instead of an actual character, Leilani also claimed: "Meghan holds herself in very high esteem. She thinks she is an icon. When in fact if she had any self-awareness she would realise how unwatchable, un-listenable and unbearable she is!"
The film Close Personal Friends, which follows two couples where one is famous and the other is not. Meghan was seen on set this week in Pasadena, LA, in the Amazon MGM Studios production.
Meghan is best known for her role as Rachel Zane in the US TV-drama Suits, but also had small roles in Horrible Bosses, Get Him To The Greek and Remember Me.
The Duchess of Sussex previously claimed she struggled to get acting roles in her early career. On Emma Grede's podcast, Aspire, she told how she would get plenty of auditions but was regularly rejected by directors.
