M&S shoppers gutted as beloved Christmas snack axed

Marks & Spencer fans have been left disappointed after the retailer confirmed it will not be bringing back a festive favourite: Dark Chocolate Chilli Tortillas. The sweet and spicy snack, described as "crunchy chilli spiced tortillas half coated in rich dark chocolate," has appeared on M&S shelves in previous Christmas seasons.

Priced at £2.50 per bag last year, the treat became a hit with shoppers seeking a twist on traditional festive snacks. The news came after a shopper took to social media to plead for its return. "@marksandspencer Please bring these back, I beg you. The cinnamon tortilla rolls aren't the same!" they wrote on X.

An M&S spokesperson responded: "We don't have plans to bring back the Dark Chocolate Chilli Tortillas, but can confirm our Cinnamon Tortilla Rolls are now available in store for grabs."

Fans of the chilli chocolate combination were quick to share their disappointment. One wrote: "I loved these but loved them too much and they were very unhealthy for me." Another said: "These were delish, very moreish!"

Not everyone was a fan, however. Some shoppers felt the chocolate overpowered the chilli. "They could be good, but too much chocolate, overpowers the nacho. Needs a better balance of savoury and sweet," one said.

Another added: "I just tried these. They're a bit weird, they mainly taste chocolatey, you can't really taste the chilli, but you still get the chilli sensation on your tongue."

In brighter news for festive snack hunters, M&S has brought back Milk Chocolate & Cinnamon Tortilla Rolls. These crunchy cinnamon-spiced tortillas are dipped in milk chocolate and have proven so popular in previous years that they often sell out quickly.

Other festive treats are also landing in stores. Pringles has launched a new Santa's Mystery Flavour, alongside returning Roast Turkey and Pigs in Blankets varieties.

Quality Street tubs have already hit shelves, often with discounts during the pre-Christmas price wars, while Mars has revealed its seasonal chocolate range, featuring Milky Way Advent Calendars, Gingerbread Maltesers Reindeer, and Maltesers Christmas Mix Bags.

While Dark Chocolate Chilli Tortillas won't be making a comeback this year, shoppers still have plenty of festive treats to indulge in, as long as they're quick to snap them up before the shelves empty.
