Spain set for 37C scorcher as these holiday hotspots set to roast in heat-surge

Tourists heading to Spain in September are set to face scorching temperatures as weather maps turn a burning red throughout the month. September is a favourite time for some Brits to head abroad for a sun holiday, as schools are back in session and hotspots are less crowded than in previous months. Those who are looking for hot temperatures and blazing sunshine in Spain in September are in for a treat, as some hotspots will reach as high as 37C this month.

Weather maps show temperatures on the Iberian Peninsula, which consists of Spain and Portugal, in the low to mid-30s on Friday, September 5. WXCharts maps show areas such as Seville reaching a staggering 35C in September. Meanwhile, other popular areas such as Malaga are reaching the high 20s on the same day. Temperatures across the country will reach the 30C threshold as early as Thursday, September 4, but will gradually get hotter as the days go on, with the following day being one of the hottest.

According to current weather maps, temperatures will also reach 37C in some areas on Sunday, September 14. The ten days in between September 5 and September 14 will see high temperatures, with many areas remaining above 30C at peak times of the afternoon.

The latest weather maps predict that these conditions will continue until at least Friday, September 19. Spain's State Meteorological Agency has said that summer temperatures will be "across the country" from Friday.

The agency wrote in a post on X: "They will rise throughout the week; starting from Friday, the weather will be very warm with summer temperatures across the entire country. On Sunday they will drop in the northwest peninsula."

Spain has experienced a lethal summer season of hot weather, where temperatures reached a whopping 45C at times. According to the latest reports, this led to thousands of deaths in the country.

Spanish publication Marca has reported that the number of people who died in Spain from excessive heat has doubled from 2024 to 2025, with more than 2,000 people passing away due to heat. The Daily Mortality Monitoring System (MoMo) said that there were 2,177 heat-related deaths in August alone.

Summer 2025 has been a record-hot season in the UK and across Europe, with multiple warnings being issued throughout June, July and August for Brits at home and those travelling abroad.
