A historic floating hotel that once offered a dose of luxury and tranquillity to visitors now eerily sits abandoned in the middle of the ocean. Situated off the coast of the Isle of Wight, No Man's Land Fort is a 150-year-old Victorian sea fortress that currently stands empty and uninhabited.
Originally built in the 1860s as part of a network of defences against a possible French invasion, its aim was to protect Portsmouth dockyard from seaborne attack. The granite fort which has been sold and reused multiple times spans nearly 99,000 square feet over four floors. Most recently the building was a luxury hotel, however, the hotel never reopened after covid and has lay vacant for over five years.
The luxury hotel boasted 23 en-suite bedrooms, five themed bars, restaurants, crew quarters, and a full spa complex with hot tubs, a sauna, and a treatment room, all surrounded by panoramic sea views.
There was even a rooftop bar offering views of the solent as well as a BBQ area and a fire pit. The hotel lies completely untouched, awaiting visitors that will never arrive.
Inside the restaurant a table sits still laid waiting for non-existent guests whilst wine menus are still on show. Whilst the gift shop still has a 'come in we're open sign'.
Bottles of wines still sit on shelves where they have not moved for over five years and will not move for the foreseeable future. Meanwhile a rum bar with tables and chairs dotted around the room is completely as it was in 2020.
Youtuber exploringwithjosh called the building "one of the coolest locations he has seen".
He said: "It never opened after covid, it's not practicable, it cost over $1,000 dollars a night.
"Once people visited here they wouldn't do it again, most tourists wouldn't want to come here.
"The idea is beautiful and give credit to the owners. "This is one of the coolest locations I have seen, the bars, the aesthetic, the fact there is a grand piano and the paintings."
The viral video, which was has been viewed over 1.5 million times, takes YouTubers on an adventure through the abandoned hotel.

One part of the video shows a snooker table with balls still on it as if guests were in the middle of a game.
The YouTuber says: "We are entering some rooms. Lets look at the bathrooms, they look nicer than my bathroom. You would never think that this is what it looks like on the inside.
"This is something, I would stay here. You would think we are on a cruise ship but no. Whilst the whole of the downstairs was lazer tag and there are old artifacts from the war."
The hotel was sold at auction earlier this year for a whopping £1,120,000, £120,000 more than its starting £1 million guide price.
Edward Ward from London purchased the site as an "impulse buy", as something different from his usual investments in tech stocks. However, nothing has been done to the building as of yet.
