A UK-based scrap car company magazine carried out a study to find the 25 scariest places in the world for drivers.

The magazine, Scrap Car Comparison, surveyed 2,000 motorists from 10 countries across the globe - UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Germany, New Zealand, South Africa, France, Italy and Spain.

The magazine then asked the participants to rate countries on a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being not very nervous at all and 10 being extremely nervous to drive in a specific nation.

Four European countries made it to the unfortunate top 25 list - which was not topped by Italy, despite its drivers being considered by many around the world among the most confident, when not reckless.

Turkey scored the highest amongst the European countries, making it the scariest country in Europe for drivers and the 12th scariest place in the world with a score of 6.68.

Hungary was the next European country to be listed, in 15th place. Greece was placed 23rd, while Italy followed in, in 24th place.

The study said: "Greece and Italy are notorious for their chaotic traffic conditions and ancient, narrow streets, which can be highly intimidating for visiting motorists."

The top spot was claimed by India, with a score of 7.15, followed by Venezuela and Zimbabwe.
