Yellowstone star looks unrecognisable in first-look at 'fabulous' comedy's return

Josh Lucas, star of Yellowstone, is set to look unrecognisable in the forthcoming second series of Palm Royale, due to hit Apple TV+ next month.

The cult comedy features Kristen Wiig as an ambitious social climber who infiltrates a high society group in 1960s Florida.

Despite a lukewarm reception from critics, with a rating of just 56 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, the first series has slowly amassed a dedicated fanbase who argue it's been "underrated".

Fortunately, it also garnered enough popularity to secure a second series, which will see Wiig's character Maxine Dellacorte-Simmons reunite with Lucas, who plays her on-screen spouse Douglas Darby Dellacorte-Simmons.

Lucas, known for his roles in films such as Sweet Home Alabama and Ford v Ferrari, is familiar to Yellowstone viewers for his portrayal of a younger version of Kevin Costner's lead character John Dutton in flashbacks, reports the Mirror US.

However, he's set to look entirely different in the sneak peek at Palm Royale season two, trading his cowboy hat and denim for a leather jacket, sunglasses and pilot's cap.

Those who've already watched the first series will have seen Lucas sporting a 60s-style haircut, complete with sideburns, and a clean-shaven appearance.

The upcoming series will continue with Maxine grappling with Douglas' infidelity and the impending birth of his child with another woman.

If you haven't yet caught up with Palm Royale's first series, now's the ideal time, as newcomers still have until 12th November before the second series begins.

Viewers have been discussing how underrated the first outing was, with one Redditor posting: "Okay, what is up with the rating? This show is fabulous."

"A lot of people don't understand the tone of the show," someone else agreed.

"It's camp, it's fun, it's a technicolor spectacular I wish everyone could just enjoy it and let it grow for a few more seasons."

A third fan commented: "This is my favourite new show in the past few years! What talent! What writing!

"So incredibly funny and fabulous. Love the fashion and the cinematography. Every week keeps me wanting more! Love is an understatement!"

And the series also has several five-star Google reviews, with one viewer penning: "Love Kristen Wiig. Hilarious, comedic genius.

"Then I searched out the cast and I knew I couldn't pass it up. Carol Burnett... The Queen of everything, Laura Dern. The leading cast is exquisite, all the parts are moving. This show is so much fun and quite entertaining with absurd scenarios."
