The games line-up for 2025 is seriously impressive, featuring the likes of Cyberpunk 2077, Street Fighter 6, Metroid Prime 4, Mario Kart World and so much more.
After previously confirming plans to bring Remake to the device, Square Enix has suggested that the sequel may also come to the Switch 2 in the future.
As a reminder, Remake is the first game in the new FF7 trilogy, while Rebirth is the sequel. A third game is planned to release in the coming years.
In a recent video looking at Final Fantasy 7 Remake on Nintendo Switch 2 (below), game director Naoki Hamaguchi commented about the "series" coming to Switch 2, and not just the first game.
"When I first saw the Nintendo Switch 2 system, I was very intrigued, since it's an improved Nintendo Switch and contains new features," Hamaguchi said.
"Since you can play Switch 2 in both handheld mode and TV mode, and it has improved specs, I felt it would have enough power to run the Final Fantasy 7 remake series I was creating."
While it's not official confirmation, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was tipped to appear on Nintendo Switch 2 before the console was officially announced.
The game has a massive 92-rating on Metacritic and won countless game of the year awards for 2024.
The Nintendo Switch 2 release date was announced during a recent Direct conference, alongside a boatload of new games.
The new Nintendo console will launch on June 5, alongside games like Mario Kart World, Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, Fortnite, and Hogwarts Legacy.
Additional first and third-party games will be available in the weeks and months after launch, including Donkey Kong Bananza on July 17 and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond later in the year.
Nintendo will also release enhanced versions of existing Switch games, including upgraded editions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
The Switch 2 Enhanced games will feature improved visuals, smoother frame-rates and in some cases and new content.
Breath of the Wild, for example, comes with a companion app that provides information about each area and an improved map.
