Rafael Nadal grabbed headlines on Thursday, 10th October, when the Spanish tennis legend decided to retire from the game after a career spanning over 20 years. Nadal will end his career with 22 Grand Slams, which is the second most behind Serbian superstar Novak Djokovic, who has won 24 titles. The 38-year old's farewell match will be in the upcoming Davis Cup Finals in November, where he will be representing the Spanish side.Djokovic, who recently lost the summit clash of the Shanghai Masters to Italy's Jannik Sinner, opened up on his retirement plans after a journalist asked that whether he will be also following Nadal's footsteps or not. The 37-year old made it clear that as of current plan, he is eager to compete and even want to extend his career in the next season as well.“I don’t know what the future brings, I’ll just try to kind of go with the flow to see how I feel in a given moment but I still plan to compete and play next season,” he told the press after the match. For the Serbian, it's presently all about going for the Slams and see how far can he actually go and bring to the table. “It’s not a live-or-die type of goal for me, I think I’ve achieved all of my biggest goals in my career,” Djokovic said.“Right now it’s really about Slams and about still seeing how far I can kind of push the bar for myself''.He was heavily impressed with Jannik's performance and complimented that the Italian actually reminds of himself. “He’s very solid from the forehand and backhand, doesn’t make too many mistakes, and just tries to take away the time from the opponent. That’s something that reminds me of myself throughout my career, that’s what I’ve done for so many years consistently, playing fast-paced tennis, taking away time from the opponent, kind of suffocating the opponent in a certain way.”
