Pune: Chaos erupted at Pune Airport after several flyers travelling to Delhi from Pune on a SpiceJet flight witnessed a major delay in the wee hours of Sunday. The flight number (SG 963) was supposed to take off from Pune at 3:20 am, but took off at 8:30 am on Sunday resulting in a five-hour major delay. According to a TOI airport, prior to the delay, many flyers had reached the airport by midnight to check-in. But later, faced a major delay. Flyers complained that they were not given any prior intimation about the postponement. Others said that they were made to sit in the aircraft for more than an hour. Further, as the flight got rescheduled repeatedly, the passengers got into a major argument with the airline staff, with Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel having to intervene.TOI further reported that when the airline was contacted to comment regarding the situation, a spokesperson of the SpiceJet airline said, ''On Oct 20, SpiceJet flight SG 963 scheduled to operate from Pune To Delhi was delayed due to a technical issue. The aircraft, while taxiing to the runway, experienced a technical issue and had to return back to bay. It departed soon after the issue was resolved. Inconvenience caused to passengers is regretted,'' as quoted by TOI. In another development, a proposed plan for the Pune Ring Road, announced in 2016, is yet to begin. While the project is still in the pipeline, commuters continue to face the traffic and pollution problems. It should be noted that the vehicle congestion, and worsening air quality due to the emissions were the reason the idea of a ring road was proposed. In addition to that, there are several challenges in front of the authorities to tackle before the project could start, which includes land acquisition.
