Agra: Two people died after an unidentified vehicle struck their motorcycle from behind in the Sikandra Rao area in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras district, police said on Monday. Police said the incident occurred around 10.30pm on Sunday when Anil Singh, 25, and Satyam Singh, 28, were returning on their motorcycle from Aligarh to their homes in Etah district.
Sikandra Rao Kotwali SHO, Arvind Rathee, said, "As they approached Toli village in the Sikandra Rao Kotwali area, an unidentified vehicle struck them from behind, causing them to be thrown onto the road. Both individuals succumbed to their injuries, while the driver of the other vehicle fled the scene."
The bodies were sent for post-mortem and an investigation has commenced to locate the unidentified vehicle. "The deceased were employed at a car showroom in Etah and had travelled to Aligarh for business. The bodies were sent to their respective families after autopsy. Though no formal complaint has been lodged by their families, we have initiated an investigation. CCTV footage and preliminary evidence suggest the collision involved a tanker," the SHO said.
