Kanpur: Police on Thursday night arrested a gang member during an encounter in the Sanigawan area of the city. The arrested man was involved in shooting incidents and theft. While one suspect was caught, his associate fled the scene. The police seized a country-made firearm, ammunition, and a motorbike from the detained individual.
DCP (East) Shravan Kumar Singh identified the arrested person as Aman Singh, also known as Aman Katiyar, a habitual offender from Mangla Vihar. Acting on intelligence received on Thursday night, the police force tried to capture Aman Katiyar and his companion, who were travelling on a motorcycle near the railway underpass on Alaknanda Road in Sangwan.
Upon realising they were encircled, the suspects shot at the police squad. During the exchange of gunfire, Aman sustained a bullet wound on his right leg, causing him to fall from the motorcycle onto the road. He was subsequently taken to Kanshiram Hospital for preliminary medical attention. tnn
