Margao: Goa Police on Friday arrested a 51-year-old Jharkhand native for allegedly raping two sisters, aged 8 and 9, in Margao, following a complaint lodged by their mother.
According to police sources, the accused, who lived in the survivors' neighbourhood, raped the minors when their mother had gone to her native place. She had entrusted the accused with the responsibility of escorting her daughters to and from school during her absence. Police sources said the man had threatened the girls with dire consequences if they told anyone about the sexual assault.
The accused has been booked under relevant provisions of the Pocso Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Goa Children's Act.
