A few months back, legendary singer Udit Narayan found himself at the center of a controversy when videos of him showing him kissing his female fans on the lips during live concerts surfaced online. In one clip, after a fan kissed him on the cheek following a selfie, Narayan turned and kissed her on the lips, which shocked the audience and quickly went viral on social media. This sparked widespread criticism, with many calling his actions inappropriate and dubbing him a “serial kisser” while others defended the singer as the girl kissed him first. Recently, in an interview, singer Amit Tandon shared his opinion about Udit Narayan's controversy.
Amit Tandon’s Take on the Controversy
Talking to Filmymantra, Amit said, "I love his singing but I just have to say he's a horny old man. I don't know. Is that okay to say that? I mean, wohi hai, kisi ne line maari aur unhone line puri khich di. That's all it is."
He continued, “Fans do this with you. I also have shows where people try to get close, but it depends on you how much you allow them. This thing needed to be limited."
The singer further added, "If I were a guy and my girlfriend or wife tried to take a photo on stage and something like that happened, I would have beaten him a lot. But I respect him a lot as a singer, and I’m sure the atmosphere at that time was something like that. Still, it’s very important for us to set some limits for ourselves. Ek dayra rakhe.”
Udit Narayan’s Humorous Response
At the launch and music success celebration of 'Pintu Ki Pappi', Udit responded to the controversy with a playful attitude. While chatting with choreographer Ganesh Acharya, he joked about the movie’s title, saying, “Kya title rakha hai inhone. Title toh change kar dena chahiye aapko. Pappi toh theek hai… bahut khubsoorat title hai aapki ‘Pintu Ki Pappi’ aur… Udit Ki Pappi toh nahi hai? Ye bhi ek ittefaq hai ke abhi ye release hona tha. Waise, 2 saal pehle ka video hai vo, Australia me jo aap dekh rahe hain. Toh badhai deta hoon aapko".
Udit Narayan’s Statement to ETimes
Earlier, after facing criticism, Udit revealed to ETimes that he is neither ashamed nor embarrassed and said, "Why should I be? Do you hear any regret or sorrow in my voice? In fact, I am laughing as I talk to you. It is not something sleazy or secret. It is there in the public domain. My heart is pure. If some people want to see something dirty in an act of pure affection, then I feel sorry for them. I also want to thank them".
