Fitness is not just about hitting the gym thrice a week, or simply eating boiled food and then drooling over an image of pizza. Fitness is discipline, it's a lifestyle; it’s a marathon and not a sprint. One of the perfect examples of the same has been set by Cyrus Broacha, who has shocked many with his toned and fit appearance at 55.
He discussed his strategy for maintaining his health and physique through consistent training and wise decisions in a podcast with fitness icon Bani J.
Home gym setupOn his YouTube channel ‘Cyrus Says,’ he said he has always enjoyed weight training, but in recent years, he has become more careful and focused. “I’ve always been into weight training. I’m just a little more careful now. My shape is better, but my size… could be better,” he shared.
He revealed that he became more serious about fitness during the pandemic and set up his own home gym, which included a barbell, a bench, a squat rack, and 340 pounds (154 kilos) of weight.
Power building over cardio
Cyrus defined his current training approach as "power building," which combines bodybuilding and strength training. In order to increase blood circulation, he also mentioned incorporating backward walking into his exercises.
In another episode of his podcast, where he spoke with actor Rohit Roy, he pointed out that he never skips his workouts, no matter where he is. “I train everywhere I go. I find a gym somewhere. I do fast workouts. I don’t do cardio. I don’t walk,” he said with honesty and humor.
Balanced diet
Talking about his food habits, Broacha explained that he follows a form of intermittent fasting, usually not eating between 7 PM and 7 AM. “I don’t eat 7-7. I work out fasted, but eat immediately (after),” he shared. He prefers starting his day with two protein shakes and eggs, while staying away from extreme dieting methods. “Reality is that you can’t go so extreme (with diets),” he added.
Rather than extreme cardio or extremely restrictive diets, his approach to fitness shows consistency, strength training, and a sensible eating schedule.
