NEW DELHI: Chennai Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by two wickets on Wednesday, all but ending the defending champions' hopes of making the IPL play-offs. Chasing a target of 180, CSK got over the line with two balls to spare. Dewald Brevis led the charge with a blistering 52 off just 25 balls, while Shivam Dube and captain MS Dhoni contributed 45 and an unbeaten 17, respectively.
Following the thrilling win, Dhoni took part in the customary post-match handshakes, greeting the KKR players before heading back toward the CSK dugout alongside teammate Anshul Kamboj. But just as he was walking away, he suddenly paused.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Dhoni can be seen gesturing to Kamboj, indicating that one player had been missed. That player was KKR pacer Chetan Sakariya .
Without hesitation, Dhoni turned around, walked back to Sakariya, shook his hand, and gave him a pat on the back — a small gesture that once again highlighted the former India captain's humility and sportsmanship.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, MS Dhoni didn’t shy away from acknowledging the challenges his team faced this season.
“Few? This is just the third game we have won (laughs),” he quipped when asked about his emotions following the victory.
“There were a few things that didn’t go our way. You could get emotional about it, talk about the pride factor, but you have to be practical about it,” he added.
Dhoni admitted that as the campaign progressed, the team’s focus shifted from chasing results to experimenting and assessing players for the future.
CSK, who are at the bottom of the table with 3 wins in 12 matches, will next face Rajasthan Royals in Chennai on Monday.
