Instagram users can now instantly add songs from posts and Reels to their Spotify playlists with a single tap, thanks to a new integration launched globally on October 17, 2024. This feature streamlines music discovery and saving across the two popular platforms.
The new functionality allows users to add songs they hear on Instagram directly to their Spotify "Liked Songs" playlist without leaving the Instagram app. When viewing a post or Reel featuring music, users can tap on the song name to access its audio preview page. There, a new "Add" button with the Spotify logo appears next to the audio controls.
Upon first use, users will need to link their Spotify account to Instagram. Subsequent uses require just one tap to save songs. The feature works for both free and Premium Spotify subscribers.
This integration addresses a common pain point of users wanting to save songs discovered through social media for later listening. Previously, users had to manually search for tracks on Spotify after hearing them on Instagram.
"We know that music is all around you and sometimes that means right on your social media feed," Spotify said in a statement. The company aims to create "new ways for users to discover more of their favourite artists and tracks."
The feature is rolling out to all Instagram users globally on both iOS and Android devices. It follows similar integrations already available on TikTok , which allows saving songs to Spotify, Apple Music , and Amazon Music .
