NEW DELHI: The top Army commanders on Tuesday kicked off a review of the overall security situation along the borders with China and Pakistan as well as discussions on key operational priorities and modernisation of the over 11.5-lakh strong force.
The four-day Army commanders' conference (ACC), chaired by General Upendra Dwivedi and attended by chiefs of the six regional commands and one training command, comes at a time when there are as yet no discernable signs of de-escalation and de-induction of troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China after disengagement at the two remaining face-off sites at Depsang and Demchok in eastern Ladakh in Oct. "The ACC serves as a platform for the Army's senior leadership to review and assess the overall security situation and deliberate on key operational priorities to deal with emerging challenges," Army spokesperson Colonel Sudhir Chamoli said.
