India Bounces Back After First Innings Collapse in Bengaluru Test

Send Push

In a thrilling Test match at Bengaluru, Team India faced a dramatic collapse in their first innings, scoring only 46 runs for all 10 wickets. In response, New Zealand put up a massive total of 402 runs in their first innings. However, India showed great resilience in their second innings, reaching 344 runs before rain delayed the match. India is now just 12 runs behind New Zealand, setting up an exciting finish.

Rishabh Pant led India’s fightback with a half-century, remaining unbeaten at the crease alongside Sarfaraz Khan, who scored his maiden international century in this innings. The two batsmen played a crucial role, especially with their 113-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

In a dramatic moment during India’s second innings, DRS (Decision Review System) was used twice in the same over to try and dismiss Pant. This took place in the 66th over, but both reviews were unsuccessful, allowing Pant to continue his knock.

Rishabh Pant also made history in this innings, hitting three sixes to surpass the legendary Kapil Dev in the record for the most sixes by an Indian in Test cricket. Kapil Dev hit 61 sixes in 131 Test matches, while Pant has now reached 62 sixes. Virender Sehwag remains at the top of this list with 90 sixes in 103 Test matches.

Pant has been in remarkable form, and this was his 12th Test fifty. He has hit a total of 45 sixes in the World Test Championship, and if he manages to hit three more sixes in this match, he will surpass both Carl Hooper and AB de Villiers in the list of most sixes in Test cricket.

This innings has been entertaining for fans, and the stage is set for an exciting conclusion once the match resumes after the rain delay.
