Xbox Series X Sees $100+ Price Surge, Controllers and Games Also More Expensive Ahead of Holiday Season

Microsoft has officially raised prices across its entire Xbox product lineup, including consoles, controllers, accessories, and first-party game titles. The price increases are effective immediately, with global implementation, marking one of the most comprehensive cost adjustments in Xbox history.

The company attributes the hike to “market conditions,” citing tariffs, inflation, and rising development costs, though the timing has raised eyebrows as it follows similar price moves by competitors such as Nintendo.

Consoles Get the Sharpest Price Increases

Among the most significant changes are the Xbox Series X and Series S consoles, which now carry noticeably higher price tags:

First-Party Games to Cost $80 Starting Holiday 2025

In addition to hardware, Microsoft will also raise the price of new first-party titles from $70 to $80 starting this holiday season. This follows a growing trend in the gaming industry, as AAA development costs soar.

The only exception to the price hike is the Xbox Game Pass service, which remains unchanged. With all first-party titles available on launch day, Game Pass could become an even more appealing value proposition for budget-conscious gamers.
