Mumbai, April 8, 2025 — Panic gripped Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Monday evening after a bomb threat note was discovered onboard IndiGo Flight 6E-5282, which had just landed from Jaipur. The scare prompted airport authorities to declare a full emergency and launch an intensive security sweep of the aircraft.

Full Emergency Declared After Bomb Note Found

The incident unfolded when the flight, which took off from Jaipur, was preparing to land in Mumbai. A handwritten note claiming the presence of a bomb on the aircraft was found in the aircraft’s lavatory by the airline staff during post-landing checks.

Authorities were alerted immediately, and a full emergency was declared at 8:43 PM. The aircraft was safely landed by 8:50 PM and was directed to a remote bay as a precautionary measure. All passengers were evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported.

Aircraft Thoroughly Searched, No Explosives Found

Following standard protocol, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and Mumbai Police conducted a comprehensive inspection of the aircraft. Sniffer dogs and explosive detection units swept the cabin, cargo hold, and lavatories. No suspicious object or device was found during the search, providing much-needed relief to passengers and crew.

The aircraft was cleared after the thorough check, but the incident has sparked an investigation into the source and motive behind the threat.

Investigation Underway to Trace Culprit

Authorities believe the threat could be a hoax but are treating it with utmost seriousness. Mumbai Police is now working in coordination with Jaipur airport officials and IndiGo Airlines to identify the individual responsible for placing the note.
