Navi Mumbai: A day after demolition drive at H-54 in sector 4 in Airoli, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) launched another demolition drive against unauthorised construction in H-70 at sector 4 in Airoli ward after repeated notices went unheeded by the concerned parties.
The action was carried out under the directives of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, with guidance from Additional Commissioner Dr. Rahul Gethe and Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment) Bhagwat Doiphode.
The unauthorized structure, located at H-70, Sector 04 in Airoli, was found to have been constructed by Pradeep Mahavir Yadav without obtaining any official permissions from the NMMC. In response, the Airoli department had issued a notice under Section 54 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966.
The notice instructed the property owner to remove the illegal structure voluntarily. However, due to non-compliance, a partial demolition was carried out on April 8, 2025.
The demolition team included Assistant Commissioner and Ward Officer Sunil Kathole, Junior Engineer Sandip Mhatre, and other officials and staff from the G Ward, along with members of the encroachment police squad. The operation utilized a gas cutter, two hammers, and eight laborers to carry out the removal work.
NMMC has confirmed that similar enforcement actions will continue across its jurisdiction to curb unauthorized constructions and maintain city planning standards.
